This blog Operational Pause was brought to you by...

JRR Tolkien (by way of Peter Jackson) and Bill Gates.

Because they are responsible for the two things that have taken up most of my time for the last four days: "The Lord of the Rings" and XBOX/HALO 2.

Don't like it? Deal.

Don't worry... I'll go back to thrashing the enemies of truth, justice, and the American way soon enough. But until then I'm happily defending "Middle Earth" and killing alien races bent on my destruction... hey, I guess those two aren't so different after all.

If I don't stop back before the ball drops, Happy New Year, and I'll see ya when I see ya.

And to Papa Ray, who told me in the comments to "quit slackin' and start postin'" - I know this won't be enough to satisfy you, but hang in there. Once I have quenched my thirst for Orc/Covenant blood it'll be back to business as usual around here. (and if that last sentence made NO sense to you whatsoever, congratulations: YOU ARE NOT A NERD)

New blog

Check this guy out. Good stuff from a Doggie tanker in Iraq.

Thanks to The Crowe for pointing him out.

Maureen Dowd is still an asshat

Yeah, big surprise, I know.

Click here to read the latest screed, but make sure all throwable objects that you want to keep intact are out of reach or taped down.

The only reason I bring her up at all is this statement:
The Bushies are betting a lot on the January election, even though a Shiite-dominated government will further alienate the Sunnis - and even though Iraq may be run by an Iranian-influenced ayatollah. That would mean that Iraq would have a leadership legitimized by us to hate us.

International election observers say it's too dangerous to actually come in and monitor the vote in person; they're going to "assess" the vote from the safety of Amman, Jordan. Isn't that like refereeing a football game while sitting in a downtown bar?
No worse than pontificating on the ins and outs of international policy and military tactics - when you have no experience with either one - from the Op/Ed desk at the NYT. Didn't you start out life writing a fashion column? Pot. Kettle. Black.

Oh, and the closing dig at how "Iraqis may vote for a theocracy, just like Americans chose to live in a theocracy created by Bush" is priceless.

This just in from the Department of the Galactically Stupid

Every day, I grow more and more thankful for MEMRI - The Middle East Media Research Institute. These guys are working overtime to let the rest of us know exactly what goes on inside the chick-pea sized brains of what I can only describe as "the enemy."

Little Green Footballs pointed out this one yesterday:
Iranian TV Drama Series about Israeli Government Stealing Palestinian Children's Eyes
Yeah... you read that right.
The story follows an Israeli candidate for Prime Minister, Yitzhak Cohen, who is also the military commander of the West Bank. The opening sequence of the show contains graphic scenes of surgery, and images of a Palestinian girl in a hospital whose eyes have been removed, with bandages covering the sockets.

In Episode 1, Yitzhak Cohen lectures at a medical conference on the advances being made by Israeli medicine regarding organ transplants. Later in the episode, Israelis disguised as UN workers visit a Palestinian school, ostensibly to examine the children's eyes for diseases, but in reality to select which children's eyes to steal to be used for transplants.

In Episode 2, the audience learns that the Israeli president is being kept alive by organs stolen from Palestinian children, and an Israeli military commander is seen kidnapping UN employees and Palestinians.
MEMRI has video of this Iranian "After-School Special," but I had problems getting it to run. Fortunately, they also supplied a transcript of portions of the show. There's some stuff in there that you wouldn't believe.

NOW - you could write this whole thing off as a Middle Eastern Soap Opera; something that's fun to watch on TV but everybody watching it knows that stuff doesn't happen in real life. I mean, you can't take parts out of kids and stick 'em into adults, just by virtue of the size difference. This is no more out of whack than "As the World Turns," or "Days of our Lives," right?

You could think that... but you would be wrong.

Today, we get THIS:
Saudi Government Daily Accuses U.S. Army of Harvesting Organs of Iraqis
Yeah... you read that right.
The reports have indicated that a number of those killed in 'Abu Ghraib' and other prisons were subjected to operations for extracting their organs. Following their mutilations, the bodies were discarded far from the prisons to conceal the facts. The reports revealed that that the American forces restricted the media by force to prevent them from getting near the scenes and recording the events. But the relatives of the Iraqis are aware of these facts.
But THIS is my favorite line:
[The reports] further indicate that American medical teams have [made] active and suspicious moves in Iraq to recruit some Iraqis to guide them to dead and critically injured individuals to engage in the extraction of organs. These teams offer $40 for every usable kidney and $25 for an eye.
YOU SEE!!! It's all a giant plot by the Bushitler! The Amerikan/Zionist conspiracy is tearing through the desert ripping out EYES! This should have been obvious all along. R Lee Ermey told us of this plan years ago...

This is the mindset, folks. They will demonize us no end, and I'm inclined to say we should start doing the same to them. But then I see what they put out there themselves... with pride: beheading videos, suicide bombers, masked vigilantes terrorists.

We don't have to demonize these people - they do it for us. They think dressing up the kiddies as little Jihadis is, quote - CUTE - unquote. What a legacy to pass on to the next generation...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if these people want to see God, we need to arrange the meeting... and soon.

Strap in... this one's a doozy

Yesterday, I promised a more serious post, and serious I shall be. As well as long winded. This has the makings of a long read, so get comfortable. I found this at Little Green Footballs: A Message From The Iraq Resistance.

This was posted at Information Clearing House, a happily "progressive" website that offers, among other things, a short series entitled “"The Rise of the Amerikan Nazis,”" and has a pirated version of Fahrenheit 9/11 available for download. Know thy enemy, people.

The film:
This is a no kidding, 5 minute recruiting ad for Jihadis to head to Iraq. I would find the whole thing terribly amusing if it weren'’t so deadly serious. I mean, it has all the production value of a first semester junior college short film, the music the whole thing is set to attempts to be stirring while having all the inspiration of karaoke sung by a choir of drunken secretaries at a TGI Fridays, and that voiceover?... If this is the voice that inspires the enemy, I am truly unimpressed. If it wasn’t for the bubbling rage I felt as I watched, I would have laughed out loud.

Click that link and watch the video. A transcript is also provided... a transcript I now intend to eviscerate.

Film opens with text -– first in Arabic, then switches over to English
After the unification of the Iraqi Islamic Army & the Islamic Jihad Brigades our active resistance faction is now known as
the Islamic Jihad Army. This Army operates & reports to the Mujahideen Joint Command
Which is much like US Joint Command... but run out of a goat pen
which also controls the:
The League of the Iraqi People
The National Front for the Liberation of Iraq
The Secret Iraqi Army (hmm... not very secret anymore, is it?)
The Brigades for Truth (What? The Anti-Smoking people? No WONDER you guys are trying to kill Marines!)
The Army of the Victorious Sect (Well sign me up to be overrun by the bra and panties brigade!... oh wait, I thought you said the Army of Victoria’'s Secret...)
The Islamic Resistance of Iraq
The Lions (and Tigers and Bears) of Iraq (oh my!)
The Iraqi Resistance
The Islamic Resistance of Dyala
As well as other small supporting cells
Communiqué No. 6 - The media platoon of the Islamic Jihad Army
Hey, they have an A/V Club... do you suppose THEY got picked on in high school too?
On the 27th of Shawal 1425 H.
Bringing the term "“Living in the past"” a whole new meaning...
The 10th of December 2004 M.
People of the world! These words come to you from those who up to the day of the invasion were struggling to survive under the sanctions imposed by the criminal regimes of the U.S. and Britain.
Thus admitting that you ARE NOT Iraqis, as they were only struggling to survive under the sanctions imposed by Saddam and Kofi Annan...
We are simple people who chose principles over fear.
This statement is spoken over various images of very “principled” men wearing masks... hmm...
We have suffered crimes and sanctions, which we consider the true weapons of mass destruction.

Years and years of agony and despair, while the condemned UN traded with our oil revenues in the name of world stability and peace.
Hold on.. did the Jihadi just say that the UN sucks? Well, maybe we have a starting point for negotiations! Probably not, but ya never know...
Over two million innocents died waiting for a light at the end of a tunnel that only ended with the occupation of our country and the theft of our resources.
What is this “THEFT” of which you speak, Michael Hadji Moore? Last I checked, we were still BUYING Iraqi oil. If we’ve been stealing it, we sure suck at it, because my gas prices have been over two dollars for months now.
After the crimes of the administrations of the U.S and Britain in Iraq, we have chosen our future
To get your asses kicked?
- the future of every resistance struggle ever in the history of man.
That's funny... I don'’t recall George Washington and Alexander Hamilton beheading Colonists who were still loyal to The Crown.
It is our duty, as well as our right, to fight back the occupying forces, which their nations will be held morally and economically responsible; for what their elected governments have destroyed and stolen from our land.
Again, the only thing we want destroyed is YOU, and the only thing worth stealing –- oil -– we'’re paying for. You guys could be sitting back getting fat off US cash. Instead you'’re choosing to wind up as bloated corpses. Works for me.
We have not crossed the oceans and seas to occupy Britain or the U.S.
And you never will, but you seem to be slowly commandeering France (not with German-like speed, but nonetheless...)
nor are we responsible for 9/11
Maybe yes, maybe no... but you'’re cut from the same cloth and instead of helping us rebuild Iraq, you’re killing people –- including other Muslims - who are busting their asses to turn that place into something. Screw you.
These are only a few of the lies that these criminals present to cover their true plans for the control of the energy resources of the world, in face of a growing China and a strong unified Europe. It is ironic that the Iraqi's are to bear the full face of this large and growing conflict on behalf of the rest of this sleeping world.
It'’s more ironic that you can blame this conflict on anyone other than yourself, you pompous oxygen bandit.
We thank all those, including those of Britain and the U.S., who took to the streets in protest against this war and against Globalism. We also thank France, Germany and other states for their position, which least to say are considered wise and balanced, til now.
Now THIS... THIS is the money quote. "“Thanks to the protestors, France, and Germany." ” Can it get ANY clearer that what you do on Main Street, USA has actual repercussions on the other side of the world? Can it get any clearer who our real allies are? Can it get any clearer that whoever loses the next major world war has to KEEP FRANCE?! By the way, does anybody else think this guy just exposed himself as a board moderator at Democratic Underground, or is that just me?
Today, we call on you again.

We do not require arms or fighters, for we have plenty.

We ask you to form a world wide front against war and sanctions. A front that is governed by the wise and knowing.
Like sayyy... "“Progressives”"? That Democratic Underground possibility seems confirmed...
A front that will bring reform and order. New institutions that would replace the now corrupt.

Stop using the U.S. dollar, use the Euro or a basket of currencies. Reduce or halt your consumption of British and U.S. products. Put an end to Zionism before it ends the world. Educate those in doubt of the true nature of this conflict and do not believe their media for their casualties are far higher than they admit.
“"Zionism is the true nature of this conflict”"? Israel ain'’t got jack to do with it, bub. We’'re out to kick your ass for the sake of protecting OURS, not as some quick reaction force for Ariel Sharon. You are right about the media though: I don’'t believe them because for the most part, they'’re on YOUR SIDE. I have the raw feed. I see the reports. The press sucks at their job. And the only casualties that aren'’t getting reported correctly are YOURS there, tough guy. When you get turned into a pink mist by a 500 pounder, it'’s hard for us to count how many of you there were...
We only wish we had more cameras to show the world their true defeat.

The enemy is on the run. They are in fear of a resistance movement they can not see nor predict.
At this point the film shows a view through a Night Vision Device of some type. We see what I can only describe as the WORST. FIRE DISCIPLINE. EVER. Tracers are getting launched all to hell and gone. No aim. No control. Just maximum “spray and pray.” I’'d fear that too... you fuckers might shoot me by accident at the same time you killed 20 of your own guys. The only reason you'’re unpredictable is because you suck THAT much.
We, now choose when, where, and how to strike. And as our ancestors drew the first sparks of civilization, we will redefine the word “conquest.“
Oh, they drew the first sparks alright... then the fire went out and you dumbasses have been living in the dark since about the 6th Century.
Today we write a new chapter in the arts of urban warfare.
Yeah, I know. We read your book... then we rewrote it.
Know that by helping the Iraqi people you are helping yourselves, for tomorrow may bring the same destruction to you.

In helping the Iraqi people does not mean dealing for the Americans for a few contracts here and there. You must continue to isolate their strategy.
Wha…... Where did this guy learn his English? "“Isolate their strategy"”? That'’s like saying "“reinflate their baseball"... it makes no sense.
This conflict is no longer considered a localized war. Nor can the world remain hostage to the never-ending and regenerated fear that the American people suffer from in general.

We will pin them here in Iraq to drain their resources, manpower, and their will to fight. We will make them spend as much as they steal, if not more.

We will disrupt, then halt the flow of our stolen oil, thus, rendering their plans useless.
In the immortal words of Ronald Reagan, “"There you go again." ” I WISH we were stealing it. – Then I'’d still have some jing in my pocket after I go to the pump. Instead, we’'re foolishly paying for the stuff. What SAVAGES we are!
And the earlier a movement is born, the earlier their fall will be.

And to the American soldiers we say, you can also choose to fight tyranny with us. Lay down your weapons, and seek refuge in our mosques, churches and homes. We will protect you. And we will get you out of Iraq, as we have done with a few others before you.
THIS one takes the cake. "“We will protect you." ” You could dry that one out and fertilize the lawn. And if - in the odd event that you are actually telling the truth -– you actually HAVE helped any US military members get out of Iraq, the end result hasn’'t worked out so well for THEM anyway, now has it? Not exactly a big motivator to for others to give it a shot...
Go back to your homes, families, and loved ones. This is not your war. Nor are you fighting for a true cause in Iraq.
YOU are gonna tell ME what I'’M fighting for? That’s a hoot...
And to George W. Bush, we say, “You have asked us to '‘Bring it on’,' and so have we, like never expected. Have you another challenge?”
Yeah. Martyr Off... first one to collect his virgins wins! GO!!

It's moments like this where a line from Starship Troopers comes to mind. Something about "backing off and 'glassing' the planet from orbit"...

Mail call

From my email, I give you a message from a Viet Nam vet and member of the LRRP teams... and if you don't know what a LRRP is you best get to Googlin', cuz I ain't wasting another second on a history lesson.

I present the message in it's entirity, unedited - with all that entails (blink hard when you get to the dirty words and keep right on reading). This speaks truth that most people will never fully understand.

An Old GI ...(please feel free to post everywhere ... including my e-mail

I've spent 27 months in combat..a LRRP .. (a lie... it was 18 months in
combat and nine months pulling my dick in the rear, but it was all in Nam)
... worked in four-man teams (three GIs and a Yard) ... we kicked ass... we
ran, we shot, we made it out.

Spent a week in Bosnia with an armored cav unit during the Bosnian
elections. Nobody fucked with them.

Spent a week with an old bunch (60-70 year olds) of UDT/ NCDU guys. The
SEALs sucked compared to them.

Spent some time with British EOD in the Falklands (I'll show you a rough on
a golf course. The sign says "MINED").

Spent some time with these weird guys in Belize ...Gurkha trained and able
to do it all.

Here's the story. If you don't like being in combat don't join the military.
If you're doing it to get an education, that's
an admirable reason (not a reason I would choose, but fine nonetheless), but
be prepared to fight. Don't talk to reporters except when you're holding a
gun (I'm a reporter now), don't expect ANYONE to appreciate what you do for
a living (and what you do for a living is be a soldier/grunt/airman/swab),
don't rat on your buddies unless they kill civilians (and back them when
they fuck with the bad guys.. what do you think will happen if YOU get
snagged?), shoot anything that moves, believe that anything you do is
righteous, back your buddy, and know that ... you are right and "they" (no
matter who the fuck "they" is) are so fucking wrong .... There really are a
bunch of us who have been there/done that who are too fucking old to do it
again, but would trade places with you in a minute.... if you're fighting
now, you're a hero ...and if you think being a hero means anything, you're
wrong. But it beats not being a hero. Kick ass, take names, ignore the
media, stick to your buddy's ass, and kill anything that looks remotely
threatening. Better a dead them than a dead you.

I pray for you guys every day

If you can ... get one for me ...

ha HA!

After HOURS of beating my head against the wall today trying to figure out all the little html gotchas, I have finally installed the random quote generator that I thought would be a good idea at around noon today. Don't let the blog fool you... I DO NOT speak "programmerese."

Did you know that there's a difference between this: "word"

And this: "word"

Yeah... look reeeeeal hard. It took me six hours to get that.

Anyway, hit "refresh" and enjoy. And I'll keep adding new ones if it doesn't drive me insane.

UPDATE: As was pointed out by Machelle, some of you may have had problems viewing the blog after I installed the random quotes... like the whole blog was way down below where my sidebar stops. While I could blame this on my much lamented lack of html knowledge, I will instead pass on the blame to YOU, the loyal reader, at no extra charge, and invite you to get the heck off Internet Explorer and start using Mozilla Firefox... which showed the blog just fine, thankyouverymuch. Seriously, it's faster, better, crushes all pop-ups, takes about 7 seconds to download, and most importantly - it's FREE.

Now, if anybody still has problems seeing stuff let me know... unless, you're Harvey. In that case I will ask you to stop putting the magic shrooms on your pizza...

I prefer the M-16,

but some folks like to use a little more firepower... like an anti-tank missile.

Check this out.

A toast...

To The Blogfather, Harvey.

I have updated my sidebar recently with some new links (and tossed some dead ones) and finally gotten off my ass and put up the "Bad Example Family" logo. I'm still too lazy to link the whole fam though - you'll have to go to him to find out what il legitimate offspring are the latest and greatest.

And to get you there (in a roundabout sort of way), go to Frank J's place and read Harvey's Fun Facts About Christmas... yes, it's all very confusing.

A sample:
Terrorists in Fallujah don't celebrate Christmas, either. Mostly because they've been killed by Americans.
The French celebrate Christmas by decorating trees and surrendering to them.
Ho ho ho.

Put up your lighters for Dimebag Darrell.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The band Damageplan had just started playing Wednesday night at the Alrosa Villa nightclub outside Columbus when a gunman walked on stage and shot top heavy metal guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (search) five or six times at point-blank range.

The shooter then turned his weapon into the packed crowd, killing at least two fans who were at the club to see the Texas-based band, formed from the ashes of the legendary thrash-metal group Pantera (search), authorities and witnesses said.

A police officer walked on stage as the gunman held another man at gunpoint, killing the shooter before he could fire again. In all, five people lay dead and at least two others were wounded.

Good on that cop for stopping things before anybody else got killed, but damn...

UPDATE: 1208PM - FoxNews just said that the gunman had Dimebag's brother Vinnie in a headlock and was about to shoot him too when the cop took him out. What the hell caused this mess? I'm still in shock.

The Marine family

From reader Carrie comes the following:
I'm a daily reader of your blog and wanted to let you know how much I enjoy it.

I'm also a Marine wife here at Camp Pendleton and wanted to put in a word about another organization that is helping wounded Marines and their families.

The Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund helps families with travel and lodging expenses once they are returned to the US. Rehabilitation can take months and the expense for families wishing to stay close by their loved one can be prohibitive.

Here is the info that my husband has sent out to friends...
What follows is a lengthy description, but instead here's the link to their website:

Read my December 2nd post for more information.

Thank you Carrie for the info, and for taking on the hardest job in the Corps - Marine Wife. Semper Fidelis.

I've been doing this how long?

Blogiversary came and went last Friday and I forgot all about it... been a bit hectic last couple days, though. My cousin is okay. Looks pretty good for multiple broken bones and shrapnel wounds. His spirits are high, and he's surrounded by family. He's a strong kid and should recover well.

As for me, I'm totally burned out. I'd like to say something new, but in light of recent family events, the significance of today's date, and the fact that I now have a relatively good sized archive to reference, I'll show you something "old" instead.

Besides... I think I've already said everything I wanted to say a year ago:

Dec 5, 2004

...of why Iraq and the Global War on Terrorism is so important... and of why my cousin's wounding and another Marine's death were not in vain.

Go here and download this guy's video.

Dec 2, 2004

Yesterday marked the wounding of the third person I personally know in Iraq.
The first two are friends. This one is my cousin.

The first two were relatively superficial wounds. This one is pretty serious.

The first two proved to be non-lethal. This one killed another Marine.

ALL of them were caused by IEDs - Improvised Explosive Devices. This one took the bomber to Allah and his 72 raisins.

I want to kill a lot of people right now. My blood was boiling yesterday when this whole thing happened. My FIRST reaction was, of course, fear for my cousin's life. But once I knew he was okay and on his way to Germany, and then home, that fear was replaced by seething hatred.

I'm a Marine. A professional warrior. I do what I'm told, I give orders to those under me that are in accordance with carrying out the Mission I have received from 'higher.' But yesterday and today are the first days since September 11th, 2001 that I have truly been itching to get an order that says it's time to go stomp the ever-loving shit out of some bad guys. (Short point of pride: my cousin enlisted in the Corps on September 10th, 2001, a date he's immensely proud of.)

Why TODAY as well, you ask? Because of sons of bitches like these:
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian hard-liners erected a monument Thursday to commemorate a suicide bombing which killed 241 U.S. servicemen in Lebanon in 1983, witnesses said.

A group called the committee of the "Commemoration of Martyrs of the Global Islamic Campaign" held the event at Tehran's Behesht-e Zahra cemetery to praise the attack 21 years ago against the United States, Iran's arch-foe
These Jihadi, fascist, Islamofanatical assholes have built a fucking national monument to commemorate the attack on the Marine Barracks in Lebanon - an attack emulated in smaller scale by the driver of a car who waited until my cousin and another Marine were a few scant yards away and then blew himself up.
The group said more than 25,000 "martyrdom seeking" volunteers have so far signed up and one of its members said the registration drive would continue.
You guys want to be martyrs? I'm waiting for word from the top to help you on your way.

I try to be professional. I try not to let emotions get in the way of my job. But I'm going to smile a little broader every time that I am in any way responsible - directly or indirectly - for ending one of these bastard's lives. If I provide the right coordinate to a pilot to put a bomb in a terrorist safe-house, I'll smile. If I can provide warning to Marines at the front gate of a base that a car bomb is coming and they fill that son of a bitch full of lead before he can hit the button, I'll smile. And if I get the chance to lay into any of these terror-exporting Sand-Nazis with a fifty cal, you can bet your ass I'll be smiling. Because I'll have done my job. I'll have saved Marines. I'll have saved Americans.

Don't believe that whole "give peace a chance" line of bullshit. Don't believe the fantasyland hippie burnouts that spout it. Don't believe that crap about how Iraq and the GWOT are not the same fight. And don't you DARE believe that if we ditty-bop on out of Iraq now that everything is going to be puppy dogs and ice cream. I don't give a rat's ass about what Bush should have done, what was wrong, what was right, or how much you hate America, you snivelling little worms. Welcome to the PRESENT. We don't have a time machine, and until we do, you're not changing anything by looking back. Step into the NOW. We have an obligation to finish the job, and that entails killing a whole lot of people who look forward to their own deaths. How convenient.

Peace is won at the point of a bayonet. As one of my DI's would tell us repeatedly, "Violence is the key to life." War is the ugliest of things. Good men die. But these people cannot be reasoned with. Their ears are shut. They cannot be shown a better life. Their eyes are closed. They cannot be appeased. They perceive only weakness.

Americans, it's time to put a little hate in your hearts and get the job done. Because if we don't do it to them, they're literally dying to do it to us.

UPDATE: In the comments it was brought to my attention that wounded Marines being sent to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany are encountering trouble getting hold of Marine Corps issue clothing.
Gentlemen/Fellow Marines, I have been in contact with the Marine Liaison office at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. A large number of Marines are in/out patients. The office has a critical shortage of sundry type items to support the individuals. The Marines are given civilian clothing on arrival, but only AF or Army military clothing is available at the exchanges. Since some of the individuals get MEDEVAC'd to LRMC, they often do not have a complete set of cammies. In this case, they also would like to obtain green USMC sweats so the patients have some kind of USMC uniform. Any support would be appreciated.
John Hopeck CWO

> Mailing address to send items to Marines in the hospital:
> CMR 402 BOX 4
> APO AE 09180
> POC at Landstuhl:
> Sgt Michael Bates
> NCOIC Marine Liaison Team, LRMC
> Email: batesmt@mfe.usmc.mil
If you are interested, the Marines would be happy to get anything you send. With regards to toiletries and sundry items - individual care packages are preferable, but items sent in bulk will of course be divvied up as necessary. With regards to cammies - they may prove difficult to get without actually going onto a Marine base, but sweats are relatively easy. These are what the current USMC issue sweats look like.

Thanks to reader Wally for the information.

UPDATE II: General purpose cash donations via Pay Pal can be made through the Wounded Warrior Hospital Fund.

UPDATE III: Marine Corps Moms offer yet another way to send support to the troops in Landstuhl.
